GETTING Started

How do I activate my card?

4 steps in 2 minutes
First step: Download the Android app.
Step two: Pair your Keepser with your Android smartphone by scanning the QR code on the white card (backup).
Step three: Download the Keepser chrome plugin.
Last step: Associate your Android smartphone with the Keepser chrome plugin.

What is a keeps?

A keeps is a piece of data stored on the card.
The data can be usernames and passwords, private cryptocurrency keys and seed phrases, bank cards or loyalty cards.
To view the keeps stored on the card, simply go to "My Keepser". Keeps are sorted in alphabetical order (red icons). The grey icons represent the type of keeps.
If you tap on the red arrow at the bottom of the page, you will access a menu that enables you to search by name or by filters when there are many keeps stored. To delete a keeps, simply select the one you want to delete and tap on the bin. Then place the card under the NFC antenna to validate the operation and that's it!
A recorded keeps can be synchronised, copied to another card or deleted.
To perform the different actions, you must tap and hold the keeps for a few seconds. A menu will then open and several icons appear:
Icons for copying to another card
Modification icon if you want to change the password, e.g.
Thus, to change a password that has already been stored, tap and hold the keeps and change the access codes. It is important to remember to rename the new keeps, as you can’t overwrite the first one.

Why is it important to make a backup on the Keepser safe clone (white card)?

Along with the Keepser Cold Wallet, customers can purchase and take advantage of a “Keepser Safe Clone”. This white card enables instant backup and restore mechanisms for your Keepser Cold Wallet (cloning, backup, selective copy). It is also a safe vault for your seed phrases or any other codes from your other crypto-currency wallets, replacing “paper cold wallets” or systems alike. You shall keep the Keepser Safe Clone in a safe place, and shall use it in case your Keepser Cold Wallet or any of your backed-up device is lost, destroyed or stolen.

How long does it take to clone a card?

For a card with 16 keeps: 4 seconds (copying time from the first card) and 10 seconds (copying time to the second card).
For a card with 51 keeps: 7 seconds (copying time from the first card) and 31 seconds (copying time to the second card).
This information is given as a guide and could change depending on the phone used.

How to delete a keeps?

Tap on "My Keepser" and choose the keeps you require from the list. Tap and hold for a few seconds. You can delete it, modify it, copy it or use the fingerprint function (depending on the type of phone you have).

What is an RSA key, how to create one and how to share keeps with it?

RSA encryption is an asymmetric cryptographic algorithm, widely used in e-commerce and, in general, for exchanging confidential data on the Internet.

Please note that this feature only works between Keepser cardholders.
First of all, the two users who want to share a keeps must have a Keepser card and the Keepser app installed on their phone.

Then, to create the RSA 4096 key, the following steps must be performed: Open the Keepser app and place the black card under the phone's NFC antenna.
Tap on the "+" menu at the top right of the screen and select "RSA 4096 Key". Place the black card under the phone's NFC antenna.
Tap on "Generate a new key" and then tap on "Yes".
The key is generated. Place the black card under the phone's NFC antenna again (this takes a few seconds, so keep the card under the antenna).
A QR code then appears on the screen (it is a public key) that can be shared by email or by other means (WhatsApp, etc.).

To share a key, go to the “+” menu, select "RSA 4096 Key", place the black card under the phone's NFC antenna and press "Load Public Key".
Then place the black card under the phone's NFC antenna and the QR code will appear on the screen.

The person with a Keepser card who wants to send us a keeps must open their Keepser app, select the keeps they want to send us and click on the QR code icon. This will open the keeps QR code and then they only need to tap on the icon that represents the 2 keys.
The person's public key must then be scanned and a new QR code will appear on our phone.
The person has to open their Keepser app, tap on "+" then tap on "By QR code". They only have to scan the QR code on the phone and register the keeps.

Tip: the QR code can be shared either as a photo or as text (which is useful when the QR code has been shared on our phone and we can’t scan it with the same phone).

How do I synchronise the card?

To synchronise the card, open the menu at the top left, tap on "My Keepser" then tap on the white arrow at the bottom of the screen. Then tap on the icon with the 2 arrows.

General Questions

What are the different alternative ways to connect to your Keepser card if you are having trouble connecting to the existing Wi-Fi network?

a) SHARING THE CONNECTION: This enables devices to connect to each other from an ad hoc Wi-Fi network.

Your phone will act as a Wi-Fi relay to create a shared Internet connection between your phone and your computer.
To do this, first go to your phone's settings. Tap on "Device Settings” then "Network and Internet" and tap on "Hotspot and Connection Sharing".
Tap on "Wi-Fi hotspot" to activate the shared connection. Any device can then connect to it, as long as it has the password.
Under "Set the Wi-Fi access point", it is possible to change the name of the access point and set the required password to be able to connect (which is highly recommended). When connection sharing is properly configured in your Android settings, you can enable or disable it from this screen. Please note: the method or terms may vary slightly depending on the model of your smartphone but, as a general rule, the steps remain the same.

b) EviDNS
The EviDNS ZeroConf software developed by Freemindtronic enables you to quickly find your terminals as well as NFC phones that are connected in the same local network. It indicates the IP address and port number of the terminal. Zeroconf is a set of protocols used to automatically create an immediately usable IP network, without the need for configuration or dedicated servers. You will find the software at https://freemindtronic.com/evidns-zeroconf-by-freemindtronic
Click on "INSTALL" and start using it immediately!

The Keepser group always recommends an ad hoc connection, as it is the most secure.

Which smartphone can I use with Keepser Cold Wallet?

To use Keepser you need an ANDROID version 6 or higher smartphone and NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality. See list of smartphones with NFC.

What if I lose my smartphone?

Don't worry, there is no data from your Keepser on your smartphone. Download the Keepser app on a new smartphone, pair your Keepser with it.

What should I do if I lose my Keepser black card?

If you lose your Keepser, don't worry. No one can access the data stored in your Keepser. We recommend that you buy another Keepser black card and use your white card (backup) to copy your data to the black card. Always keep the white card (backup) in a safe place.

How to store a password?

It is very easy to store the login credentials: write the user name, password and name of the Keeps then press the icon to save. That's all!

What happens if I lose or can't remember my administrator password?

If you lose your administrator password, you will not be able to access your administrative settings. This data is confidential and we have no way of knowing it. You should keep it in a safe place.

What is the maximum length allowed for the administrator password?

The maximum length is 16 characters (numbers, letters and specific characters) from the ASCII table.

What types of websites are compatible?

Over 94% are compatible with Keepser. On some websites, there is two-step authentication to log in automatically.

Where are the administrator settings and what do they contain?

Accessible by clicking on the icon at the upper left side then "Administration". Administrator pass management, user pin management, keepser card cloning, geolocation management, card information, etc.

Where are the user settings and what do they contain?

What is the maximum length allowed for the password?

You can store the password up to 48 characters depending on the length of your username and keeps name. The maximum length of these 3 data is 61 characters.

Is there a random generator in the Keepser app?

Yes, you can use it automatically or use specific settings. Press 2/3 seconds on the icon next to the password field. The "Random parameters" window appears and you can then choose between customizing the generator, hexadecimal.

I bought a new phone; do I have to pair my card with it again?

If you have a new phone, simply re-install the Keepser app on your new device, and re-pair using the QR code.

If I reinstall the app on my phone or the computer plugin, does the phone have to be paired with the plugin again?

Yes.

I’m on a website and I want to pay but I can't fill in my credit card details

Keepser may not be compatible with the website you have chosen. If Keepser is not supported, you won’t be able to tap on the red credit card. The "diamond" icon for cryptocurrencies may be available, but it should be disregarded. However, you can use a different method to enter credit card details on the website, even if it is not compatible with Keepser, thanks to Keepser's "digital POST-IT" option.

How can I use the digital post-it when autologin or autofill to pay on the website is not compatible with Keepser?

Open the Keepser plugin on the computer.
Click on the three-bar menu to open the menu. Click on "digital post-it".
Click on "Credit card" from the menu on the left, then click on "Select the type of keeps" and finally on "Generate a keeps".
A notification will be sent to your phone. Open the notification, select the credit card you wish to use and click on "digital post-it". You will see that you can now copy and paste your credit card details or any other information.

I have used up all my administrator password attempts. Can I use my card?

You will still be able to use your card without the administrator password, but you will not have access to certain functions, such as making a back-up. You can continue to make unlimited password attempts, but the card will be unlinked each time, so you will need the card’s QR code to link it to your phone again.

What if I can’t create geolocation security when I create a keeps.

If you want to register a keeps using geolocation as an additional security option, you must first enable geolocation or the GPS on your Android phone so this feature can work from the Keepser app.
Assuming that you have already downloaded and installed the Keepser app and you want to save a keeps with the double security of geolocation that you will need, you must:
1. Close the Keepser app.
2. Activate geolocation or the GPS on the phone and enter the Keepser app again.

How to save your keeps without using a clone safe card?

Important: For security reasons, we always advise you to buy a bundle of two cards (1 Keepser card + 1 Keepser safe clone). But you can use this method to save your Keeps manually > Click here.

1 - Local Network configuration

ZeroConf
The EviDNS ZeroConf software developed by Freemindtronic makes possible to quickly find your terminals, such as NFC telephones connected on the same local network. It indicates the IP address and the port number of the terminal. Therefore, it offers a better user experience for Linux, Ios, Microsoft.

2 - How to enable autofill in a phone

Working principle
The Keepser application has an autofill service for Android phones. This service allows the user to autofill the fields from the NFC device where the secrets are stored encrypted. Everything is done in a secure contactless way. Autofill works in principle with all applications used in your phone (like Facebook, Instagram, …) as well as web browsers.

How to activate the autofill function
To enable this feature, go to the application’s user settings and check the autofill box. A settings page should open with several choices, select the Keepser application. The application becomes your default autofill software.

How to activate the autofill function Xiaomi
With Xiaomi devices running MIUI 11 or more, specific steps are required to make autofill work.

  • Go to your phone settings
  • Find the app info (it is where you can manage the app for example force stop the app)
  • Go to Other permissions (this option is located below Application authorization and may take a few seconds to show up)
  • Enable “Display pop-up windows while running in the background”.

Note: If the app you want to do autofill with was already running when you set the autofill service, it may not work with it. You need to close and reopen the app for it to take into account the new settings.

3 - How to autofill Works

Working principle
This feature allows user-entered fields to be autofilled into a phone from a Keepser NFC device. Keepser application supports many different types of input fields. Remember to update Keepser application with this feature to get the latest developments in autofill and autologin.

How it works in the phone
Now click on the field to be filled in, a “search” button should appear next to it. Click on “search”. Place your NFC device under the antenna of your NFC phone. Then select the password, ID or public key of a cryptocurrency address you wish to use to fill in the field(s). The fields will automatically fill in to authenticate you. Understood, that the secrets automatically entered in the fields are not saved in your phone. This is the ultimate protection. The secrets are stored only in your NFC device and used on demand by your phone without backup.

4 - Automatic device authenticity check

Working principle
Keepser NFC devices have an automatic authenticity check to combat counterfeiting.
During the manufacturing of the NFC device, the tooling signs the device.
The signature is made on the basis of physical and digital parameters specific to the device. This makes it unique.
Here is the screenshot information message “Wrong signature, your device might be counterfeit”. Click here

How it works in the phone
When a Keepser NFC device is presented to an NFC terminal, there is an automatic check to verify the authenticity of the device.
Indeed, each device has a unique signature. Thus, if the signature detected is not compliant, a counterfeit suspicion message is displayed.
The use of the detected counterfeit device is not allowed.

Cryptocurrencies Questions

(Only for Keepser Pro & Pro+ models)

What cryptocurrencies can I store?

Bitcoin BTC, Ethereum ETH, Litecoin LTC, Ethereum Cash ECASH, Namecoin NMC, Bitcoin cash BCC, Ethereum Classic ETC, ReddCoin RDD, Bitcoin Gold BTG, Ethereum Gold ETG, Ripple XRP, Dash, Ethereum lite ELITE, Solar Coin SLR, Digibyte DGB, Feather Coin FTC, Stellar XLM, Dogecoin DOGE, IOTA, Verge XVG, Tron TRX ... Regarding this list of cryptocurrencies, you can automatically generate your public address from your private key. We work every day to increase this list. Keepser can also store any type of private key based on BitCoin and Ethereum (ERC20), Binance Smart Chain (BEP20) and Polygon (Matic).

What is a seed phrase?

The recovery phrase consists of a sequence of words (12, 15, 18, 21 or 24). It is extremely important because it allows you to recover your cryptos in case of loss or theft of the device. That is why it must be stored in a very secure way. Keepser allows these words to be saved completely offline. They will be kept only in your Keepser and in the backup and will never be connected to the Internet. Record up to 100 encrypted mnemonic phrases (Bip39) for at least 30 years, without the need for a power source. This has the advantage of never exposing the private keys to human sight.

What kind of seed phrase can I store?

You can choose between 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 word sentences.

How to store the seed phrase?

Choose the number of words in your recovery phrase and the language to write them.

Is it safe to share Bitcoin, Ethereum, or IOTA private keys?

You have to be very careful with your private keys. You should never show them to a third party. When you share private keys through the KEEPSER app, your data is encrypted offline. The person you want to send your private key to has to create an RSA key with their own device. It sends you the public key to encrypt the data. No one will be able to decrypt your crypto private key. Only the person who has the RSA private key will be able to do this.

In what language can I write the words of my recovery sentence (seed phrase)?

There are 7 languages available: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. The different words will be recognized immediately when you start typing the first characters.

How do I store my cryptocurrencies?

Once the first steps are taken with the card activated, add a cryptocurrency to Keepser by clicking in the application menu on "Cryptocurrency". Then scan the QR code or manually enter the private key of your cryptocurrency wallet. Then all you have to do is specify a Keeps name (label) to identify your crypto, "Bitcoin" for example if it is your bitcoin wallet. There you have it, you just have to present the card under your smartphone with the NFC activated, and the storage is done. No information is saved either on the phone or on the computer. The information is stored on Keepser or on the white card (backup). The phone only has an NFC reader function.
